KILLEEN (February 13, 2013)--Administrators at Central Texas College say that when it comes to crisis situations, timing and communication are now more important than ever.

Over the holiday break, Central Texas College administrators including department heads and deans went through Federal Emergency Management Agency training.

Wednesday they held a tabletop safety exercise to review what they've learned and remind one another how to apply it in different crisis situations.

CTC works with surrounding police departments such as Fort Hood, Killeen and Copperas Cove.

Administrators say the FEMA training and the safety exercise combine to ensure that everyone is on the same page in a crisis situation.

The college's Chancellor, Dr. Thomas Klincar, said the FEMA training and Wednesday’s tabletop exercise helps the administrators and everyone else know what to expect.

"We're using the same language, we're using the same checklist and we are immediately productive," Klincar said.

Next, CTC administrators will be re-examining the campus' door locks.
