KILLEEN (February 14, 2013)—Counterfeit bills have been passed at two gas stations and a Sonic restaurant in the past two days in Killeen.
The manager of the Sonic said the chain has received so may fake bills that managers call each other daily to pass on warnings.
He said his employees are now required to check every bill.
"It comes directly out of our pocket and out of my store's, so I can't do the repairs that I need to," said Sonic Manager Margaret Scotting said.
The Secret Service said it doesn't think the different fake bills, which were in different denominations are linked however, which suggest several people may be passing the bogus cash.
Temple businesses have also received counterfeit bills.
