KILLEEN (December 20, 2012) --- Two Killeen city employees who were fired last week have filed appeals that will be heard by the city’s Personnel Hearing Board.
According to Hilary Shine, Killeen Director of Public Information, former Finance Director Barbara Gonzales and John Acker, a former fleet services technician, filed appeals Tuesday to the terminations, which went into effect on Dec. 12.
Shine said a hearing will be scheduled now by the board to hear the appeals.
That hearing cannot be held until at least 10 business days pass from the filing date of the appeals.
No hearing had been scheduled as of Wednesday.
The Personnel Hearing Board for the City of Killeen includes five members who have no connection to city council members or other members of the city staff.
"After the Personnel Hearing Board hears the appeals they will submit a recommendation to Killeen City Manager Glenn Morrison who will then submit a final decision on the matter," Shine said.
The two employees have the choice to hold the hearings in public or in private.
