KILLEEN (January 2, 2014) The Killeen Economic Development Corporation has signed an agreement with a company that plans to open a downtown customer care center that could eventually employ as many as 175 within the first five years of operation.
“After conducting a search and reviewing several opportunities throughout the state, Killeen offered a facility and partnership that will help us serve our customers well, build our business in Texas and provide employees with a modern, refurbished workplace,” said Solix, Inc. CEO Jack Miller.
Solix, Inc., will lease a building at 402 East Avenue D, which will serve as a customer care center and will include call center operations, the KEDC said Thursday.
As part of the agreement, the KEDC will pay the City of Killeen to extend the Avenue D street-scaping project two blocks to 10th Street, in front of the building the company will lease.
The KEDC will also pay incentives for as many as 175 full-time equivalent employees for the company’s first five years of operation; sign installation; improvements to the parking lot, and will rent additional parking for employees for four years.
“Business development is essential to the revitalization of Downtown, and we are very pleased that Solix has chosen to locate there. Solix’s presence will serve as a catalyst for continued growth in downtown, and the creation of new jobs will be a great benefit to our local economy,” Killeen City Manager Glenn Morrison said.
