KILLEEN (May 22, 2013)—Fort Hood soldier Jeremy Christian Bolen, 23, was in custody Wednesday in Killeen, charged with aggravated kidnapping in connection with the abduction and rape of a woman on March 16 during Austin’s annual South by Southwest festival.

Bolen, who’s assigned to Fort Hood’s 69th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, will be transferred to the Travis County Jail.

The victim was riding her bicycle near the campus of Huston-Tillotson University when she was grabbed, forced into a pickup truck and raped.

She was able to escape and reported the rape to Austin police officers whom she encountered after she fled.

DNA evidence led to the March 27 arrest of Michael Broughton, 28, of Killeen, who was charged with aggravated kidnapping and sexual assault.

Members of the Texas Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested Bolen Tuesday in Killeen.

An arrest warrant affidavit obtained by an Austin TV station says Bolen drove the pickup.
