Killeen: Three Arrested For Burglary Say They Thought Items Were “Free”

KILLEEN (October 24, 2012) ---Two men and a woman from Killeen were arrested and charged in connection with a burglary that happened in neighborhood in which the three live, but they told investigators they thought the items were “free,” according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

Angel Nicolas, 24, and Javier Landin, Jr., 26, and Gabriela Nicolas, 22, were each charged with one count of burglary of a building.

Their bonds were set at $50,000 each.

According to the affidavit, Killeen police responded to a burglary call just before 9 a.m. Sunday at 118 East Garrison after a witness reported that she saw people taking items from a shed next to a house on North 4th Street.

The witness also said she saw two of the burglars leave in truck and gave a description of the vehicle.

Officers spotted a truck matching the description at a residence nearby and found Gabriela Nicolas and Lanvin inside and detained them, the affidavit said.

The affidavit says the two admitted to taking property from the shed, but said someone told them it was "free."

Officers also found Angel Nicolas in the area.

The affidavit says that he told officers he removed some items but then said "some lady," told him he could take what he wanted.

The owner of the shed told police that some items were on the curb for disposal but that she didn't tell anyone they could take anything from her shed.

She reported that television, power tools, and various electronics missing.
