KILLEEN (February 22, 2013) ---Killeen Mayor Dan Corbin says a serious discussion among community leaders about how to deal with the traffic congestion on Trimmier Road near Highway 190 from the intersection to the area of Bacon Ranch Road.

"The thought that we have is if we can put in a road another connecting road between Trimmier and the road that enters into Walmart and then make five lanes with a continuous turn lane on Trimmier that that will really eliminate some of the bottleneck because right now the lanes are taken up with people trying to turn left," Corbin said.

Corbin said CVS is also planning to move into the busy intersection soon which could mean more traffic.

"I think there was a lack of understanding on how busy all that was going to be and what the car count was going to be, and we can't change the past but we can fix it," Corbin said.

Work on the expansion of parts of Highway 190 is set to begin next week and Corbin says he hopes work on the Trimmier Road project could also begin soon.
