KILLEEN (April 5, 2013)--Two Killeen men were held Friday in the Bell County Jail charged with illegal dumping.

James William Noe, 47, and Willie Charles Anderson, 27, both were ordered held on $20,000 bonds, charged with illegal dumping of 1,000 pounds or more.

In an affidavit issued for their arrest, Killeen police say on Tuesday police accompanied a City of Killeen code enforcement officer to an home on Brooks Street to investigate a nuisance complaint.

When the officers arrived they found a large pile of discarded items stacked between the sidewalk and the street that was 3- to 4-feet tall and extended the length of the house at that address.

Officers reported the items in the trash pile included plastic and electronics such as televisions and radios.

Police also discovered a trailer in the yard of the house that was loaded with appliances and other goods.

Officers located two men in the backyard of the residence and one of them told police he lives at the address.

One of the men told officers he and the other men gather discarded items and strip them in order to sell the scrap.

A code inspector at the scene said a City of Killeen refuse truck removed the items and weighed them and the total volume of the items recovered was more than 650 cubic yards.
