KILLEEN (December 7, 2012)--Killeen police arrested a man they believe is responsible for at least two residential burglaries in the city and two workers helped with the arrest.

Ramon Travoris Ortiz was held Friday in the Bell County Jail in lieu of bonds totaling $100,000, charged with two counts of burglary of a habitation.

On December 2, Killeen police were sent to an address on Golden Eagle Court where a woman reported that her home had been broken into and items including two televisions, gaming devices, a lap top computer and military gear had been stolen.

Then on Dec. 4 officers were sent to another address on the same street where a woman reported she had been at home when a man tried to kick in her back door.

While officers were at the second address, the two workers approached them with another man whom they believed to be the man responsible for the burglary.

Officers spoke with the citizens and learned they had seen a man try to kick in a door at the Golden Eagle Court address, followed him and stopped him.

After interview by the police officers, the third man admitted he had been at that residence.

Police also were able to match the shoes the suspect was wearing to footprints found outside the second residence and with marks found on the back door.

The suspect was arrested and later also admitted he had broken into the first home and had stolen the items listed as missing there.
