KILLEEN (June 25, 2013)-Toni Lashtae Betts, 29, was in the Bell County Jail Tuesday charged in an attack on a police officer who was struck in the face with the handcuffs he had placed on a suspect.

The Bell County Jail log showed Betts was held in lieu of a total of $103,000 bond on charges of assault of a public servant and marijuana possession.

An arrest affidavit said that officers were sent Saturday to a disturbance call at a residence in the 1700 block of Alamo Ave.

Officers reported they heard screams coming from inside the house as they arrived.

Police encountered a woman who answered the door who was bleeding from cuts on her arm and noticed broken glass inside the home.

The woman said the glass was broken during a fight.

Officers also found a small child who was crying and appeared to be scared.

The woman yelled at the child to stop talking to police and then she was arrested.

As police and the woman left the house, she asked to use the restroom

While inside the restroom she shoved an officer with the restroom door and then hit him in the face with her handcuffed hands.
