Killeen: Woman Charged With Arson In Hotel Room Fire

KILLEEN (July 31, 2013)—Catherine Emma Mitchem, 48, of Killeen was in custody Wednesday, charged with arson in connection with a fire earlier this month at a local hotel.

Acting on a Crime Stoppers tip, officers arrested Mitchem Wednesday in the 3200 block of Cantabrian Drive.

Her bond was set at $50,000.

The fire was reported at around 7:15 p.m. on July 20 in a room on the top floor of the Modern Inn at 1010 Root Ave. in Killeen.

A person inside the room was evacuated, and police and fire crews cleared the area.

The room sustained fire damage and two adjacent rooms were damaged by smoke.
