Killeen: Black History Month Brings Famed Artist To CTC

KILLEEN (February 27, 2013)--As Black History Month draws to a close, CTC is will host a reception and meet and greet for famed artist Ted Ellis on Thursday.

Ellis was named the Black Heritage Artist of the Year in 1998 and in 2005, Entrepreneur of the Year.

He is best known for his African-American-themed art which blends folk art, naturalism and impressionism.

Walt Disney Studios, Minute Maid, Coca-Cola and others have all made use of his art for advertising purposes.

Some of his work will be featured in the “Killeen Salutes the Arts” exhibition at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center Saturday.

Thursday's reception will be held from 2:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. in the lobby of the Anderson Campus Center.

It is free and open to the public.
