KILLEEN (September 3, 2014) Killeen’s Clements Boys & Girls Club will celebrate its 50th anniversary next week at the Civic and Conference Center.
Two-time Grammy Award nominee Wintley Phipps, a vocal artist, education activist and motivational speaker, will deliver the keynote address at the celebration, which runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sept. 11.
During a social hour, those who attend may have their photos taken and may browse a gallery of pictures taken over the past 50 years.
“Although the event is a friend-raiser, not a fundraiser, it would not be possible without the generous support of sponsors, including our diamond sponsor First National Bank of Texas,” said Charlie Watts, Clements Boys & Girls Club board member and chair of the celebration committee.
“We are looking to reconnect with the many club alumni in the area and educate our community about the importance and influence of the club.”
The club serves youth from 6 to 18 at 16 sites in Killeen.
Membership annually totals more than 8,000.
