KILLEEN (January 7, 2013)--The Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce is looking for volunteer business professionals for students’ annual Groundhog Job Shadow Day.
Mentors are needed for the annual Groundhog Job Shadow Day, a day
in which high school students are paired with a local business professional to demonstrate the connection between academics and careers and to help them prepare to join the workforce.
The business representatives will have the opportunity to take students to their place of work, allowing them to “walk in their shadow” during a normal business day.
Businesses provide lunch for the students at a place of their choice and later bring the students back to their school at 3:00 p.m.
A $5 fee per "groundhog" covers the cold breakfast for themself and his or her shadows.
The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center on Wednesday, January 30.
Volunteers are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.
