KILLEEN (September 28 2012)--A CTC art student designed a Christmas ornament for State Rep. Jimmie Don Aycock that will hang on the Christmas tree inside the state Capitol.

The project took two weeks and features hand-drawn landscapes of the CTC campus as well as a caricature of Rep. Aycock as Santa Claus.

Andrea Hostetter used acrylic paints for the design.

The District 51 Director Lucy Taylor brought the project to the campus with one piece of guidance that it had to include a landscape design.

Hostetter decided to also include Aycock in a Santa cap and inscribe his name and district.

“Members of the Texas House receive a plain ornament to return decorated with the distinctive qualities of their districts. Last year, members contributed more than 100 ornaments, each showcasing the beauty and diversity of our state,” The Texas House of Representatives website states.

After the ornaments are returned, they are hung on a 20-foot native Texas Christmas tree in the House chamber from November 30, 2012, to January 2, 2013.

Pictures are taken of each ornament, along with a description, and compiled in an album.

Hostetter’s ornament is currently the only one that represents Aycock.
