KILLEEN (October 17, 2012)--Child care providers will get several hours of training and enjoy a theatrical musical presentation at the Central Texas Association of Education for Young Children fall conference.
Beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, attendees will hear topics that include health and safety, SIDS, shaken baby and brain development, discipline and child abuse, management, creative arts, cultural diversity and social emotional development and transitions.
Registration is $20 through Wednesday and $30 at the door.
The conference will take place in the Anderson Campus Center and is hosted by the Early Childhood Professions Department of CTC.
Following the five and a half hour workshop, Shawn Brown, of Atlanta, will implement entertaining curriculum enhancements for early childhood and elementary grades in a “Super Fun Show” that focuses on music and movement with children.
The 45-minute show begins at 2 p.m. and is free for attendees to the conference who donated food or a case of water.
Children ages 12 and under can watch the show for free if a donation of food or a case of water is made.
Otherwise, the cost to attend is $5 for adults and $1 for children.
