KILLEEN (November 2, 2012)--The CTC Distance Learning Department will host a series of events in honor of National Distance Learning Week which begins on Monday.
Distance Learning incorporates the use of technology like the Internet and video chat to conduct classes so that students can learn in the comfort of their own homes.
The week is designed to generate greater awareness and appreciation for distance learning while recognizing leaders and best practices in the field, a CTC spokesperson said.
The CTC Distance Education Department will host an open house for students on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. to give them the opportunity to participate in hands-on demonstrations of the newest learning technology, including the Biometric Signature ID program which facilitates verification of enrolled student participation in online courses and testing.
The open house will be held in Building 156 in the Anderson Campus Center upstairs.
CTC faculty members will participate in a similar open house where they will learn about professional development and participate in webinars and technology demonstrations.
A week-long scavenger hunt will get underway for students which will give them a chance to win a Kindle Fire 7, iTunes gift cards, CTC apparel and more.
The public is invited to attend the events and gather information and resources on online learning.
Presentations on note-taking, enhancing study skills, test-taking and time management will also be offered.
The events will conclude on Friday.
