KILLEEN (October 1, 2012)—More protection is coming to some firefighters Tuesday.

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation will award the Central Bell County Fire Rescue ten sets of turn out gear valued at more than $22,000.

More than $412,400 has been distributed to fund equipment for Texas firefighters since 2005.

Throughout the month of October, which is Fire Safety Month, patrons can purchase $1 and $5 medallions to help raise money for the organization.

Guests who purchase a medallion will receive a free 9-volt battery for their home smoke detector while supplies last.

The presentation of equipment will take place at the Killeen shop on Lowes Blvd. at 5 p.m.
