KILLEEN (September 21, 2012)--The Central Texas College Board of Trustees has approved a contract with Biometric Signature ID.

The contract hopes to protect students from identity fraud when students enroll and access course information.

By enrolling in the program one time with a mouse, stylus or touchpad, the system validates a student’s identity on subsequent uses through an enrollment profile in a secure database, a CTC spokesperson said.

The BioSigID cannot be borrowed, lost or stolen and students will not need to remember passwords, among other benefits.

“Test proctoring is increasingly difficult with our military students who are deployed to isolated locations. This technology will allow greater access for students at remote locations and remove a layer of administrative processes for test proctoring,” a CTC spokesperson said.

CTC says the identification program has been third-party tested to be 99.7 percent accurate.

BioSigID’s patented identity management products received a $550,000 investment from the State of Texas in 2011 through the Texas Emerging Technology Fund, a spokesperson said.
