KILLEEN (February 20, 2013)--A local nonprofit organization that aims to guide young adults will celebrate their grand opening Saturday, March 2.

Boyz 2 Men was started by veteran and Killeen native Quentin Sterling more than a year ago after being medically discharged from the military.

Volunteers assist young adults with homework and work to prepare them for their future.

The center also provides scholarship application classes, credit awareness classes, sports and will occasionally bring in motivational speakers.

Sterling started the organization to give back to the community after he was reminded of how difficult being a young adult can be.

"Growing up in a single parent home, I've seen the struggles that my mother endured raising three children by herself," Sterling said.

Sterling believes being mentored as part of the Big Brother, Little Brother program kept him on the right track while growing up.

"There was always somebody there to keep me focused," he said.

The organization will celebrate becoming an official nonprofit organization from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the center at 803 N. 10th Street.

Jumpers, dunking booths, food, games, and horseback rides will be offered at the event and all members of the community are invited to attend.

The facility will be open Monday through Saturday from 12 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The organization provides their services for free and welcomes all interested youth.
