KILLEEN (February 20, 2013)—A Killeen family is starting a healthy vending machine business designed to help their customers and local charities in the process.
Vend for Good, a company operating out of the family’s home, will provide specialized snacks and drinks for businesses and organizations.
The company will cater to gluten-free, low-fat, sugar-free, low-carb and other diet plans.
Ten percent of every vend will go to the charity of the customer's choice and customers will also receive a $100 match for the first $100 spent.
“We started this business when we realized we didn’t have the option of healthy eating in vending machines,” Vend for Good Owner Cindy Wilkinson said.
The vending machines will accept major credit cards and will automatically provide a credit for any item that does not drop.
The machines will also send an e-mail to the provider when items get low or run out so that the company knows when to service it.
The concept behind the company is choice, their website says, and food and drink samples are provided upon request.
More information about Vend for Good is available on the company’s website.
