KILLEEN (December 11, 2012)--Belton resident and retired Army aviator Levi B. Noguess will fly fifty different aircraft for his 50th birthday Saturday.
The aircraft will be flown within a 12-hour period from Killeen to Fredericksburg.
His goal is to raise a total of $50,000 for the American Diabetes Association and Heart Mountain New Beginnings Boys Ranch while bringing attention to his vocation and hobby.
Noguess’s adventure was originally scheduled for his actual birthday on Wednesday but was changed to better coincide with individuals’ schedules.
Fifty pilots will volunteer their aircraft and their time to Fly with Levi.
According to Noguess, "the pilot/owner will taxi into position holding short of the runway ready for me to board. As I land one aircraft I will, as expeditiously as possible, exit that aircraft leaving it in the hands of the owner/pilot and will then be shuttled or walk to the next aircraft. I will board all aircraft with the engine running if a safe entrance and exit can be made in such condition.”
Success will be measured by flying at least 50 aircraft in one 12-hour period.
His efforts will be updated on Facebook and on his website, and the variety of planes he plans to fly are available to view online.
Donations are still being accepted and can be made through the website.
