KILLEEN (June 18, 2013)--A one-day only pet adoption event will adopt out free pets deserving of good homes.
From 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Killeen Adoption Center at 5501 Clear Creek Road, kittens, cats, puppies and dogs will be available complete with a microchip and all vaccinations.
Pets will also be spayed or neutered.
An application process and counseling is required for all adoptions.
The event is sponsored by Texas Humane Heroes and is part of the Rachel Ray $100K Challenge in which 50 shelters across the country will compete to break their own records at saving animals' lives.
Throughout the months of June, July and August, each competing shelter must save more dogs, cats, puppies and kittens than they did during the same three months in 2012.
Agencies will compete against other agencies of their size.
Texas Humane Heroes could win $5,000 to $100,000 for area shelters.
