KILLEEN (April 2, 2013)--Sections of Highway 190, its access roads and FM 2410 have lower speed limits as two major road projects have begun.

On Tuesday, new speed limit signs were posted on Highway 190 to include areas from the Fort Hood main gate to W.S. Young Drive, Stan Schlueter Loop to the Harker Heights city limit and on the access roads.

Speed on the highway is 55 mph while speed on the access roads is 40 mph.

FM 2410, from Scott and White Drive to the Harker Heights city limit, is 45 mph.

Killeen City Council decided March 12 to lower the speeds for construction projects.

Highway 190 is being widened to six lanes from the Fort Hood main gate to W.S. Young Drive and the second project will raise Highway 190 over Rosewood Drive, connecting through to FM 2410.

FM 2410 will also be widened to include a continuous center turn lane from Stan Schlueter Loop to the Harker Heights city limit.
