KILLEEN (July 4, 2012)--Work on the second phase of the Stagecoach Road project will begin Thursday.

Stagecoach Road is being completely rebuilt from Mountain Lion Road to Highway 195 and will take place in four stages.

"The current rural road will be transformed into a southern thoroughfare with eastbound and westbound lanes, a continuous center turn lane, curbs and gutters and sidewalks," Killeen spokesperson Hilary Shine said.

Phase II will require closing a half-mile stretch from Platinum Drive to East Trimmier Road.

The closure will last for approximately six months.

The first phase, which stretches 1.5 miles, will be completed this week with the entire project to be completed in 2016.

The project spans a total of 5.5 miles.
