KILLEEN (July 13, 2012)—Two men were in custody Friday evening, facing charges in the robbery of a Killeen convenience store.
Officers responded to the robbery Friday morning at Sam’s Food Mart at 1603 Florence Rd. where clerk told officers the men entered the store at around 7:15 a.m.
One approached the counter and asked for an item while the other went behind the counter with “a long tube like device” and demanded money, police said.
The two ran from the store and drove off in a newer model red Ford Mustang, police said.
An officer spotted the car a short time later parked on the west side of the Shell Gas Station in the area of Gray and Veteran’s Memorial Boulevard.
As he checked out the vehicle, he spotted two men inside the store near the counter.
The officer arrested one of the men as he left the store and a second officer arrested the other.
