LACY LAKEVIEW (April 10, 2014) First Lady Michelle Obama scooped up a 4-year-old Lacy Lakeview boy after she and the president arrived in Houston on a flight from Fort Hood, where they attended a memorial service for three soldiers killed in a shooting rampage last week.
Connor Phelps and his parents were standing by a railing at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston when the Obama's walked by after exiting Air Force One.
The first lady bent down to pick Connor up and pulled him over the railing to meet the president.
Mrs. Obama asked him how he was doing and how old he was, his parents said.
President Obama then shook Connor's hand and asked him his name and told him he liked the flag pin he was wearing.
"He had to skip his nap to meet him so he was a little tired but more so, he was awestruck," said Connor's dad Jason.
The Phelps said Connor learned the pledge of allegiance at the age of 3 and ever since then he incorporates the White House, American flag and President Obama in his daily playtime routine.
The family took Connor to Houston Wednesday in hopes he might meet the first couple.
