LAGUNA PARK (October 12, 2012)--The first Echota Cherokee Indian meeting of Texas will be held at the Bosque Resort Restaurant Event Complex on Saturday.
The purpose of the meeting is to form an Echota Cherokee Indian Clan to represent the Echota Cherokee Indians of Texas and neighboring states, which includes an extension of the tribe in Alabama.
The meeting is slated to begin at 2 p.m. at the restaurant, located at 341 State Highway 22.
A governing body will be selected and an official name for the clan will be chosen.
A dinner consisting of buffalo burgers, sweet potato pie, quail kabobs, rabbit stew, brisket, armadillo eggs, chicken, beans and corn will be served at 4 p.m.
Activities will be available for children.
