LAMPASAS (February 18, 2013)--The Lampasas Joint Airport Zoning Board will meet Tuesday night to further discuss recently approved regulations intended to enhance the safety of pilots.

Members of the board, who are also pilots, voted to create height limitations for zones and structures located around the airport.

Also, anything inside the “hazard areas” should not create electrical interference with navigational signals or radio communications between the airport and aircraft, according to the draft.

The 10-page draft of rules would not apply to structures currently in the hazard area and would only apply to new structures.

Several airports state-wide have implemented similar measures which are based on Federal Aviation Administration flight standards.

Tuesday’s meeting is open to the public and is set to begin at 5:30 p.m.

The meeting will be held in the council chambers on Main Street.
