ROBINSON (October 7, 2012)-- It's been a throbbing headache for many local residents. Some even say it interfered during the chase for a local fugitive last week.
An unfinished bridge on South 12th Street. in Robinson is giving many in the area grief, and causing them to reroute.
"It's just a constant pain," resident Mike Bederka said.
"Everybody's used to shooting down South 12th Street to Loop 340 when they're going to work or going home. But since the bridge has been closed, everyone has to go through town or find another way."
McLennan County Commissioners had the bridge closed down some months ago to fill a large pothole, but the county has yet to finish construction.
The bridge even caused some confusion for local law enforcement last week during a chase for a local fugitive.
"I'm sure they would have probably caught the guy or had a better understanding of where he was going if the bridge had been fixed," Bederka said.
According to Kelly Snell, the area's county commissioner, picking contractors to finish construction has caused delays.
Yet there is good news for those living on South 12th Street.
Snell expects contractors to start completion of the bridge as early as next week.
However, when they will be done remains unclear.
All residents can do now is cross their fingers.
"Our biggest objective is to get this bridge fixed," Bederka said
