Marlin: Water Use Restrictions Eased

MARLIN (December 10, 2012)—The City of Marlin eased its water use restrictions Monday from level 6, the most severe, to level two, for the first time since a mistake disabled its water plant in early November.

A boil order issued on Nov. 8 for Marlin water customers after the mistake involving misdirected chemicals caused the city’s water plant to shut down was lifted at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

While repairs were made, the city used a portable system, but the city’s plant was up and running Friday and the portable plant is no longer needed, officials said.

Marlin Mayor Elizabeth Nelson said the final water treatment unit in the plant should be turned back on Tuesday for inspection, which will bring the city up to full treatment capacity.
