MARLIN (July 20, 2012)—The Marlin Fire Department is Joining Spark’s Wish List, a national effort to partner fire departments with local residents and businesses to support fire safety education efforts.
“Every year, we see fire-related injuries and deaths that might have been prevented with fire safety education, functioning smoke alarms or practiced an escape plan,” said City of Marlin Fire Chief Curtis Keener.
“Our first line of protection is educating the community. Sparky’s Wish List will allow us to work with Citizens and business owners of Marlin to provide these critical educational resources,” he said.
The Sparky’s Wish List website allows fire departments to create tailed profile pages that list the specific materials that local fire departments need for fire education programs.
Residents and businesses that want to help can search the site by city or state and can choose items to purchase.
The materials will be sent directly to local fire departments.
