MARLIN (February 21, 2013)-Marlin High School will open its doors to all veterans and area residents interested in attending their Distinguished Speakers Forum Friday.
The forum will feature two veterans, Retired Colonel Ralph Hodge and Retired Chief Warrant Officer Allen Canady.
Hodge is a decorated soldier of the Korean War who served 36 years as a facilities engineer for the U.S Air Force Academy.
He attended the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore and is a member of its Athletic Hall of Fame.
Allen Canady, a Marlin native, graduated in 1969 from Marlin High School.
Canady served 29 years in the United States Coast Guard currently works as a clinical therapist at the San Marcos Treatment Center for children and adolescents.
He is also the founder of the Martin Luther King Memorial Basketball Tournament which draws people from all over the country.
Friday's program is being sponsored by Marlin Independent School District and the City of Marlin as part of the community youth service committee outreach.
Anyone interested in attending is invited.
The event will take place in the school's auditorium at 9 a.m.
