MART (August 29, 2012)- The former head of the housing authority in Mart was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Waco after she earlier pleaded guilty to embezzling funds from the authority's accounts.
U.S. District Judge Walter S. Smith ordered Tracy Lee Grossman to serve three years probation and to pay a $3,000 fine, $33,095.77 in restitution and a $100 special assessment to the court.
A federal grand jury indictment says Grossman, beginning in January 2006 and continuing through June, 2010, embezzled funds from the authority and converted those funds to her own use.
A total of more than $5,000 was stolen according to an indictment filed on April 13.
The Mart Housing Authority is funded by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.
