MART (October 5, 2012)--A Mart juvenile detention facility corrections officer posted $2,000 bond and was released from county jail after his arrest earlier in the week on a charge he beat a youthful inmate at the facility.
Bryant Jay Davis was charged with official oppression, according to the McLennan County Jail Log, and was released Wednesday after posting bond.
An investigator with the Texas Juvenile Justice Department said in an affidavit Davis assaulted a 17-year-old detention center inmate last Saturday.
Davis was arrested by TJJD officials Wednesday and booked into the McLennan County Jail.
He later posted a $20,000 bond and was released from custody.
The incident happened at the TJJD facility in Mart, the affidavit says.
Davis, 20, who lives in Marlin, was arrested at the facility.
The affidavit says Davis used his closed fist to hit the young inmate in the face and head at least 12 times.
The youth later had to be treated by a facility nurse for cuts to his face and one eye.
TJJD spokesman Jim Hurley said Davis has been suspended pending the outcome of an investigation.
Davis was hired by TJJD in April, Hurley said.
