MCLENNAN COUNTY (November 6, 2012)—The public is invited to join in the celebration of the completion of renovations at the McLennan County Courthouse Friday.
A presentation of its history, tours, live music and an old-fashioned rally are expected to get underway at the event along with a tented seated dinner.
The building is more than 100 years old and underwent structural repairs, received a new roof and a new paint job.
“We want to express appreciation to the community, commissioners and others associated with the courthouse for working so hard to preserve one of the most historic buildings in our county,” Historic Waco Foundation spokesperson Rebecca Maxwell said.
The foundation is selling tickets for the event which is set to begin at 6 p.m.
The cost for Historic Waco Foundation members is $75 per person or $80 for nonmembers.
The event is open to the public and will be held at the courthouse, located at 501 Washington Ave.
