MEXIA (March 7, 2013)--Mexia Independent School District is asking for the community's input in hiring a new superintendent.

MISD has been searching for a new superintendent since the retirement of former superintendent John Turpin.

MISD Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Donna Savage is currently serving as the interim superintendent.

The ISD is asking residents which qualities they would like to see in a new superintendent through an online survey on its website.

Residents will have until March 18 to fill out the survey.

"We're just looking for the best superintendent we can find for Mexia ISD," MISD Board President Lon Brown said.

Applications for the position are still being accepted and are available on the Texas Association of School Administrators website.

"We'd like to have one named soon and have them start leading this district as of July 1," Brown said.

A public special meeting to discuss the hiring of a new superintendent will be held later this month.
