MEXIA (March 7, 2013)--The Mexia Rotary Club will host its annual Mexia Rotary Talent Show at Mexia High School's auditorium Friday.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. and tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students in grades K-12.

"Proceeds from the show will help fund scholarships and local community projects," Mexia Rotary Club Secretary Robert Turner said.

Each year, the club gives out three $1,000 scholarships from talent show proceeds to Mexia High School seniors.

Projects in the past have included building restroom facilities, tennis courts, and sponsoring local sports teams, Turner said.

The show will consist of two divisions. One elementary division featuring students from kindergarten through 5th grade, and a senior division for grades 6-12.

Prizes will be awarded to 1st -4th places of each division and a grand prize winner will receive $500.

"The club usually averages $10,000 each year from the talent show and all of the money raised stays here locally," Turner said.

Tickets will be available at the door Friday.
