MILAM COUNTY (June 26, 2013)—Volunteers from the Bryan-based Search Dog Network joined the effort Wednesday in Milam County to find Larry Wayne Bennett, 55, who was last seen on June 9 around Sugar Loaf Mountain in the eastern part of the county where his vehicle was found along a rural county road.

Family members reported him missing on Saturday.

“Teams searched the rough and thickly wooded terrain for just over five hours but were unsuccessful in locating Mr. Bennett,” the sheriff's office said in a press release late Wednesday afternoon.

“The search was suspended due to the high temperatures taking a toll on personnel assisting in the search,” the sheriff's office said.

“Search Dog Network teams will resume their search on Saturday with additional members and hope to be able to canvass the entire search area."

Foul play isn’t suspected, but hasn’t been ruled out, the sheriff's office said.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about Bennett or his whereabouts to call Milam County Crime Stoppers at (888) 697-TIPS or Chief Deputy Chris White at (254) 697-7033.
