MOTHER NEFF STATE PARK (January 10, 2013)-A meeting of the Mother Neff State Park Association is set for Monday and all interested parties are invited to attend.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at park headquarters at the entrance to the park.
The association is a "friends" group that meets once a month to help plan activities in the park designed to enhance the experience of park visitors.
Association projects are not funded by state budget dollars.
Among recently accomplished projects include hiker's backpacks that are loaned to guests who set out to explore trails.
The backpacks contain information about local plants and animals, birds, a sketchpad, compass, journal and flashlight.
The association currently is working to construct a bird blind, which in the future also will be electrified and have a water garden.
Area residents are invited and encouraged to become a member of the association to help support the oldest park in the state park system.
