(November 16, 2012)--By submitting the name of a teacher, principal, school district or early childhood facility from now until December 7, a deserving educator could receive the 2013 H-E-B Excellence in Education Award.
Nominations for the education award can give a teacher, principal, school district or early childhood education facility a chance to win cash prizes ranging from $5,000 to $100,000.
After nomination close, nominees will receive an invitation to submit written responses on topics like teaching philosophy, learning experiences, and issues facing Texas educators.
Responses need to be received by January 11.
More than $800,000 in cash, gift cards and grants was awarded last year.
Nominations are encouraged but not required for participation, a spokesperson said.
Public school campuses may also apply for a $15,000 Healthy Campus Grant to assist in the creation of programs that encourage health and wellness.
Those applications can be submitted through December 9.
Applications can be found on the H-E-B Education website.
