WEST (September 3, 2013) -- A town hall meeting was held in West Tuesday night.
The Long Term Recovery Board faced the community to give them updates on the aid process.
Board members say although they have received 1.6 million dollars from the Waco Foundation last Friday, they can't start handing out checks just yet.
They are still telling residents to receive money, they need to file a claim with the LTRC and their request will be reviewed by a caseworker.
The LTRC estimates that there are 30 million dollars of unmet needs right now.
Many residents at the meeting were upset the process is taking so long.
Other residents claimed there are communication issues between them and their case managers.
The LTRC ensured the community they're working as fast as possible to get them their aid and they are fixing the communication problems.
Also on the meeting's agenda, the council revealed a 5.2 million dollar project for the town's water and sewer repairs.
It's a 14 month long project that will be funded by FEMA and the state.
Mayor Muska says the project will go out for a bid in November.
