SALADO (October 4, 2012)--The Silver Spur Theater will present the “Mystery of Irma Vep” beginning Friday.
The production features two actors, eight characters, 35 costume changes and two hours of laughter, a theater spokesperson said.
The play has a comical Halloween theme involving a werewolf, vampire and Egyptian princess.
Actors in the play include Logan Kimes of Dallas and Grainger Esch, the theater’s co-founder and artistic director.
According to the play's director, “Irma Vep” is a parody with a gimmick since all of the women’s roles are played by two men.
“Subtitled ‘A Penny Dreadful,’ the play satirizes several theatrical and film genres including Victorian melodrama, farce and Alfred Hitchcock’s creepy romantic film ‘Rebecca’,” a theater spokesperson said.
Admission is $18 for adults and $15 for military, senior citizens and students with ID.
Children ages 12 and under can get in for $10.
