SALADO (November 8, 2012)--The 51st annual Salado Scottish Games and Gathering of the Clans will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The event will be held in conjunction with Veterans Day, with members of the Wounded Warriors Transition Brigade and the 3rd Cavalry Regiment to be honored.
Three music tents will be operating with 12 bands and performers from across the country and a storyteller will be hand to entertain children.
The 3rd Cavalry Regiment Commander will be the Game’s Marshall and the unit’s color guard will lead the Grand Opening Parade.
Members of the 3rd Cavalry Regiment will compete in the games.
Twenty retail vendors specializing in Scottish-Irish crafts and products will be part of the fun, along with seven food vendors to sell cultural foods.
Performances begin at 10 a.m. and last until 9 p.m. Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday.
Gates open at 9 a.m. on the grounds of the Salado Youth Association off of exit 286 from I-35.
Friday’s fun will take place on the ruins of College Hill at 6 p.m. Clans will meet by torchlight to meet the Honorary Clan Chief for the games, followed by a Scots-Irish Social in the Scots Hall.
Some event prices will vary, but main ticket prices for Friday’s event are $6 each while Saturday and Sunday admission for adults is $12 and $10.
Children’s tickets are $6 each for each day.
