Speegleville: Resident’s Call Leads To Discovery Of Stolen Pickups, 2 Arrests

An alert local resident who called to report suspicious activity in Speegleville led to the discovery of two stolen pickup trucks and two arrests.

SPEEGLEVILLE (December 11, 2012)—Two men have been charged with theft after a call from an alert local resident about suspicious activity in Speegleville just outside of Waco led to the discovery of two stolen trucks and two arrests.

Michael David Biles, 26, and Frank Emmett Shaffer, 36, were both booked into the McLennan County Jail after their arrests.

Biles was charged with two counts of theft and was later released after posting a $10,000 bond.

Shaffer remained in custody as of noon Tuesday, charged with one count of theft and one county of possession of a controlled substance.

His bonds total $10,000.

An 18-year-old woman was also taken into custody, but was released after a judge determined there was insufficient probable cause to arrest her.

Sheriff's office Capt. Kenneth Vanek said Monday afternoon a resident in the Speegleville area noticed some suspicious activity and called deputies.

When they arrived the deputies found the two pickup trucks, which appeared to have been stripped.

Both vehicles had been reported stolen from Waco.

Deputies also recovered al all terrain vehicle and a motorcycle that had been reported stolen.
