(October 22, 2012)--Students across Central Texas, along with law enforcement officials, will be promoting sobriety during Red Ribbon Week.
Students at CTC in Killeen will hear motivational talks from representatives from Mothers Against Drunk Driving and the Army Substance Abuse Program.
They will also experience the effects of drunk driving this week with a DUI simulator and a “drunk goggles” demonstration.
McLennan County law enforcement officers will observe Red Ribbon Week by remembering DEA Agent Enrique (Kiki) Camarena who was brutally kidnapped and murdered by members of a drug cartel.
Elementary school students in the county will hear anti-drug messages from the Waco Police Department and other law enforcement agencies.
The first Red Ribbon Campaign began in 1988.
