TEMPLE (July 18, 2014) An alert Temple patrol officer stopped a car early Friday that turned out to have been stolen in Waco and in the process recovered an undisclosed amount of drugs.

The officer arrested Roshad Akeem Freeman, 23, of Temple, who was held Friday in the Bell County Jail, awaiting a formal complaint.

The officer was in an area along the 3900 block of Interstate 35 when he noticed a suspicious vehicle in an area where police say a high number of drug arrests have been made, Temple police Cpl. Christopher Wilcox said.

The officer checked the car's license plate number and determined the vehicle was stolen.

Once the officer had the car stopped, he detained the driver and during a search of the vehicle discovered an undisclosed amount of a unspecified controlled substance, Wilcox said.

Prosecutors are reviewing the case to determine the charges to be filed.
