TEMPLE (August 8, 2012)—A Temple police officer caught a car burglar in the act early Wednesday morning.
The officer was patrolling the parking lot of the Great Western Inn at 400 S.W. H.K. Dodgen Loop at around 3 a.m. Wednesday when he spotted a man in a car.
He detained the man, who it turned out didn’t own the car and then found evidence that another vehicle had been broken into earlier in the parking lot.
Jeremiah Burch, 51, of Temple was taken to the Bell County Jail charged with two misdemeanor counts of burglary of a vehicle.
Property taken from the first vehicle was returned to the owner, police said.
He was held Wednesday afternoon in lieu of bonds totaling $5,000 on the two charges and without bond on a motion to revoke probation.
