Temple: City Manager Announces Retirement

TEMPLE (July 3, 2014) Temple City Manager David Blackburn announced Thursday he will retire on Aug. 28 after almost 30 years in local government.

Blackburn has served as city manager for the past decade.

“Over the past 10 years or so, I have had the privilege to observe a dynamic, growing community,” he said.

The City Council has not yet started the process of determining what the replacement process will involve or when it will begin, city spokeswoman Shannon Gowan said.

“A lot of stock is put into being ‘in the right place at the right time,’” said Temple Mayor Danny Dunn.

“I truly believe that when one door closes another door opens. The future continues to be bright for the City of Temple and I see nothing but opportunity in the days ahead,” he said.
