TEMPLE (May 1, 2013)—Fugitive sex offender Darryl Kato Morrison, 45, of Temple, for whom police have been looking since January, was in custody Wednesday.
Morrison was arrested at around 7 p.m. Monday in the 1000 block of North 3rd Street after he tried to flee, police said Wednesday.
Morrison was wanted for failure to register as a sex offender.
He was convicted of indecency with a child by contact in 1987 and was ordered to register annually for the rest of his life.
He failed to report as required in May 2012.
He was convicted in 2006 of failure to comply with the registration requirements and was sentenced to a two-year state jail term.
Morrison was also named in Bell County and Wichita Falls warrants charging non-payment of child support.
Morrison was in the Bell County Jail Wednesday, charged with failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements and evading arrest.
His bonds totaled more than $100,000.
